When
our Foundress Blessed Anne Marie Javouhey
died in 1851 there were 1,000 Saint Joseph of Cluny
Sisters spread throughout the world. At present there are
3,300 of whom 350 are Irish. We have designed this website
with the intention of keeping Blessed Anne-Marie's light
burning. She lives because her daughters of all races and
all nations continue in the work that the Lord confided
to her. Anne-Marie was a great communicator, but often had
to wait six months for a reply to her letters.Just imagine
what she would have thought of the Internet and email. We
have no doubt that she would have seen it as a way to spread
the word of the Lord and get things done faster.
We would like to thank all the Sisters and Associates who
contributed to this site, offering photographs and up to
date data on their communities. We see this as a way of
keeping in touch as we The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Cluny
are spread throughout every corner of the world often not
seeing each other for long periods of time.
Each of us knows that we are fulfilling a mission in the
Church, whether it is Parish work,Education,Building new
Communities or Caring in the Nursing Homes. As Blessed Anne-Marie
herself said,"Let us think
of the Honour God has conferred on us by calling us to make
Him known, loved and served in countries that are in such
need."Today she still draws her Sisters
to follow in her wake.We would like to take this opportunity
of wishing the recently established communities in Cuba,Tanzania
best wishes. Although we are spread out all over the world, with
the wonders of modern science we can communicate from community
to community ,country to country, continent to continent.
Keep in touch.
God Bless.
