Sisters celebrating 200 years in Cluny
![]() |
On 12 May 1807, nine young women pronounced their vows of religion before the Bishop of Autun in St. Peter’s Church, Chalon. "Now we are religious !" wrote Sister Anne Marie Javouhey who from now own could give free rein to her dynamic spirit. Five , in years later, in 1812 Anne Marie bought a house in Cluny where we have our name from. |

We congratulate the community in Cluny who celebrates 200 years of their foundation. |

On Good Friday the Catholic and Church of Ireland Archbishops of Dublin Dr. Dermot Martin and Dr. Michael Jackson, made history when they led people through the streets of Dublin to celebrate Good Friday. Some of the Cluny sisters joined this procession from Christ's Church Cathedral to the Pro-Cathedral where the journey ended with prayer around the Cross. Catholics and Protestants carry the Cross together in sign of unity

Supporting the Homeless

The Activity Group in the Nursing Home beaver away during the year producing artistic cards, candles, crafts and all sort of lovely knitted garments. They sell these at a Sale of Work in November. This year the Sale netted Euro 6.300 - half of it went to Cluny Missions in Cameroons and the other half to the Capuchin Day Centre in Bow Street.

Br. Kevin Crowley OFM Cap. - Director of the Centre is seen here receiving a cheque for Euro 3.000. Also in the picture are students from the Mount Sackville Primary School. Students, staff and parents from both schools helped at the Sale of Work. Br. Kevin described the work of the Centre - providing breakfasts, lunches and food for an average of 480 homeless people six days each week. It was heartening to know that whether one was 9 or 90 they could make a difference. |
