Transfer of trusteeship
![]() |
On Monday last Cluny Killiney celebrated the transfer of trusteeship from the Sister of St.Joseph of Cluny to the Le Cheile Education Trust. The main celebration was held in the Sport's Hall. The podium was festooned with floral arrangement in the colours of Cluny (Blue and White) and Le Cheile (Red and White) Blue and white paper chains adored the Hall - each link representing a student. They had written on the links what the school meant to them. |
|
The Hall was also adorned with Art and Craft work from the Art classes and it was obvious that a lot of preparation and reflection had gone into the occasion. The heart of the celebration was a Mass concelebrated by the Apostolic Nincio Dr. Charles Brown and the School Chaplain Dr. Wric Powell. The Nuncio gave a simple but profound sermon on the Catholic School and you could hear a pin drop. The newly elected Superior General of Cluny Sr. Claire Houareau spoke about the blessing that was le Cheile and Board member Ronnie Lynam - one of the first students of Cluny in Killiney gave a humourous and graceful tribute to what the school meant to him and other students past and present. The flame was passed from Sr. Rowena galvin representing Cluny to Sean Gowan representing Le Cheile and the choir sang Laudate Dominum. After wards all went upstairs for lovely refreshments. It was a truly wonderful occasion. The students were warm and friendly, looked loverly and behaved appropriately. The Liturgy was superb and the Choir out of this world. The booklet was so professional. Our Congratualations to Mary White, Principal, Pat Larkin who directed the Liturgy and Mary's handworking team of staff, students and parent. |

Pilgrim Walk
![]() |
A pilgrim walk is sacred journey…..journey as a sacrament. We learned that a sacrament is ‘an outward sign of an inward and spiritual grace’. Our journey to historical religious sites is the outward part; our drawing closer to God is the inward part. We will not return the same as we were when we left. Pilgrims return from their journey with something good that will enrich their lives in the everyday world. This is the understanding of the Pilgrim Walk as it is presented in the 50th. International Eucharistic Congress being celebrated in Ireland between June 10th.-17th. 2012. |
|
The Dublin Archdiocese hosts the Congress. This diocese designed the Pilgrim Walk which design includes a visit to the seven designated Churches in the city – a quiet time of adoration in each Church and the praying of the Congress Prayer. The walk concludes with a visit to St. Mary’s Pro-Cathedral where the Pilgrim receives a Pilgrimage Certificate and the last signing of the Pilgrims Passport. In total the walk takes approximately four hours and is about six kilometres. Three of our Sisters (Sr. Ignatius, Sr. Dolores and Sr. Bridget) ‘walked the walk’ on Monday, June 4th. |
