Opening of St.Augustin's School. Stafford, England |
|
On Monday, February 26, 2007 pupils from St. Austin’s Primary School returned to a beautiful new school building in the convent grounds. This school had been under construction since last April so you can imagine the joy of the children and teachers alike when they entered the doors of this £1.75 million new school.
Most of the sisters attended the Opening Mass concelebrated by Father Michael Neylan, Fr. Paul and our own new chaplain, Fr. Petroc Howell. The official blessing will take place on July 18 when Archbishop Vincent Nichols will be the celebrant.

| Today, March 4, we were given a full tour of the building which has a high tech security system to monitor all areas of the building. The teachers were proud to conduct us to their classrooms that gave evidence of much preparation for the opening of their new school. There are 7 classrooms--all high tech, a multipurpose hall, computer suite, offices, library. Students have the ability now to submit their homework by e-mail and to also communicate with each other in their classrooms by e-mail.
We are now eagerly awaiting the day for the transformation of the old building into new bedrooms, activity centre and other facilities for our residents.
