Our presence in Stranrear 1897-2002

12th May a plaque was blessed in Stranraer to commemorate the work of the sisters there from 1897 - 2002. Bishop Taylor celebrated a special Mass assisted by the priests from Stranrear and Gircvan. He spoke  about discipleship of Christ and the work the sisters did bringing education to the immigrant people of Stranrear. He saw their leaving as a challenge to the laity there to continue their work of discipleship in making Christ known and loved. It was a clarion cry for all of us.

A large group of students from the school assembled on the steps of the altar and sang a hymn for us. The choir finished with a rousing rendition "Sing, Sing, Sing Alleluia". A large group of associates and parishioners from Girvan travelled to Stranrear for the occasion and all contributed to making it a really festive celebration.
