From Grenada to Ireland

Written by Administrator. Posted in Archives

Hi! My name is Sr. Hazel Ann Alexander. I hail from the "Isle of spice" Grenada. Grenada is one of the smallest islands in the Caribbean and is very unique. All the islands of the Caribbean are beautiful.

After my first profession I was sent to St. Lucia known as the "Helen of the West" there I spent fourteen years. My Apostolate was educating and nurturing the very young children and other pastoral ministries.

It was never in my wildest dream that it was possible for me to come to Ireland. God had his plan and my spirit was open to accept it.

Being human, it is natural to be concerned of what may or may not happen. My first thought was that I have never been to any European countries, would i be able to cope with winter? It's a different culture altogether. However my consolation was voiced by the many people who told me have no fear, the people of Ireland are wonderful.

Presently I am at Cluny House in Rathmines on my Sabbatical. I am doing "renewal for spring" at All Hallows College. I am basking in the spritual realm of life. Gradually I am discovering and admiring the pictureswue landscape and drawing into the rhythm of the culture. I am anticipating a purposeful and enriching stay in Ireland.

Thanks to my Provincial Sr. Gabrielle Mason and my community leader Sr. Rufina Donat and all the sisters of the Province of the West Indies who have supported me in this endeavour.

Sr. Hazel
